Applying for the Adjuster License in Florida

Following successful completion of the course, you will receive a Certificate of Completion from the HurriClaim Training Academy (a partner of MindCross Training). You must update your profile with your correct name and address before your paperwork can be processed. Your name and address should match that which you will use when you apply for your license.

After completing the course and passing the tests, follow the steps below to apply for your license online. You may also want to view the steps outlined by the Florida Department of Financial Services.

Steps to Apply For Your License

  1. Before you begin, have your SSN and a valid credit card available.
  2. Go to the Florida Department of Financial Services - My Profile Login page to begin the application process.
  3. Create an account or login if you already have an account.
  4. When creating an account, select the Account Type - "Individual."
  5. Complete the online application.
    - You will be required to supply some personal background information
    - There will be a section where you will be asked

    "Do you currently hold a Florida 9-20 or 2-20 General Lines license?"
    - or -
    "Do you currently hold or are in the process of obtaining one of the following professional designations?

    Select YES.

    NOTES

    • When getting your license by designation, you will be automatically exempt from the examination fee.
    • If you are applying for a nonresident license, the above question will not appear, and you will automatically be exempt from the examination fee.
  6. At the end of the application process you will be given a summary page to review the information.
  7. Once you get your summary, you will go through the process of paying the application fee.

Fingerprinting Requirement

Fingerprinting is required for most all licenses for both Florida residents and non-residents. They must be completed through the Florida DFS preferred vendor and submitted to DFS electronically or using Fingerprint Cards.

Citizenship Requirement

An applicant for licensure must be a United States citizen or legal alien who possesses work authorization from the US Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services.
